On January 4 2026, Consortium Nepal organized a Priority Sharing Meeting with its former presidents and advisors to review ongoing activities, reflect on organizational milestones and discuss future priorities and strategic directions. The meeting was aimed to gather expert advice and strategic recommendations to strengthen Consortium Nepal’s role as a network and a child rights movement. The discussion provided an opportunity to reflect on organization’s journey, assess progress and identify emerging challenges in the changing socio-political context of Nepal.
The Advisors emphasized on the importance of strengthening child participation post Gen Z movement and amidst the current political instability. They highlighted the need to respond to the changing needs and realities of children and child participation. The advisors stressed on the fact that child participation should be voluntary, rights-based, inclusive and meaningful.
The key recommendations from the meeting included making child participation more digitally inclusive and preparing children to become informed and responsible voters once they reach the age of 18. Another recommendation included capacitating its member organizations and personnels involved periodically to ensure effective and meaningful engagement of children and enhancing the institutional and individual potentiality. Advisors also recommended that Consortium Nepal take a stronger public stance by issuing solidarity statements whenever child rights violations occur nationally or in global arena. They also highlighted on installing more civic and political awareness among children as the accountability has been felt necessary more than ever. Furthermore, they emphasized on Consortium Nepal’s role in fostering child participation within a pluralistic society, ensuring representation, inclusivity and respect for diversity. The meeting helped to pursue strategic guidance from experts and fraternity of Child Rights in strengthening Consortium Nepal’s advocacy, relevance and accountability in advancing the common mission of Child Participation.
