Orientation on child led universal periodic review UPR reporting process (4th cycle)

During April 7-9, 2025, there was an Orientation on the Child-Led Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Reporting Process – 4th Cycle in Kathmandu, conducted collaboratively by Save the Children and Consortium Nepal. The primary goal of this project was to empower children and adolescents to effectively engage in the UPR process a UN human rights review mechanism of member states by making their voices heard, valued, and prioritized. The training provided participants with knowledge and capacities to make meaningful contributions to human rights monitoring, especially in issues such as access to education, freedom from violence, and the right to health. Through this approach, not only do children learn about their rights but are also positioned as champions who can influence policy, demand accountability, and push governments to fulfill duties under international regimes such as the  UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The program reasserted that facilitating child participation is central towards making human rights processes inclusive, responsive, and effective.
