29–31 May 2026
Consortium Nepal, in collaboration with Good Shepherd International Foundation Nepal and SOS Children’s Villages Nepal, organized a three-day Mock Child Provincial Parliament, bringing together 32 children from across Gandaki Province to strengthen their understanding of child rights, democratic governance, parliamentary procedures, digital rights, and meaningful child participation.
The program combined interactive learning sessions with a practical simulation of the Provincial Assembly. Participants explored child rights, provincial governance, and safe digital practices before taking on roles as members of the assembly, including the Chief Minister, Speaker, ministers, and opposition leaders. Through parliamentary debates, committee discussions, Zero Hour and Special Hour, they raised key issues affecting children and deliberated on the proposed Child Cyber Security and Digital Awareness Act, 2083, which was reviewed and passed during the simulation.
The final parliamentary demonstration was observed by Hon. Rekha Gurung, Minister for Social Development, Youth and Sports of Gandaki Province, along with representatives from government agencies and development partners, who appreciated the participants’ leadership, confidence, and understanding of democratic processes. The initiative successfully provided children with hands-on experience of legislative processes while promoting leadership, civic engagement, and meaningful participation in decision-making.
