1.1 Background
Gaja Youth Club (GYC) was established in 1994 (2050 BS). It was registered officially as a non-governmental organization with the District Administration Office of Baglung district in 1994 (2050 BS). The head office of organization was established in Lekhani village of same district. The organization's name was selected after the name of famous peak hill of Baglung district located at Lekhani VDC named 'GAJA Hill', standing right north west from Baglung, the headquarter of the district.
The organization was established with the purpose of creating a cultured, civilized and well governed society. It also aimed to eradicate the backwardness, evil doings by the youth of the community, minimizing prevailed injustice in the society, poverty alleviation, and eradication of illiteracy and to encouraging people to contribute in the process of development. In short it was a development carrier organization and well established in the heart of the people.

1.2.1 Vision:
GYC envisions creating a well developed society with holistic development
1.2.2 Mission:
Positive transformation economic, social and cultural aspects of society through optimum utilization of locally available resources.
1.2.3 Goal
Improve the economic and social status of the target communities through raising awareness, increase in access to education and optimum utilization of resources
1.2.4 Objectives (Areas of Intervention)
In order to fulfill Vision, Mission and Goal of GYC, the following 6 areas of intervention are identified:
- Income Generation and Entrepreneurship Development
- Education and Health Improvements
- Human Rights and Good Governance
- Infrastructure Development
- Disaster Management
- Peace and Rehabilitation
1.3 Working Approaches:
The GYC has set its approaches for program implementation and dealing with the people.
- Inclusion - inclusiveness of target community and disadvantaged groups in decision making and implementing their programs
- Advocacy - emphasis to justice, human rights, peace and democracy
- Participatory - meaningful participation of disadvantaged groups
- Empowerment - increase people's abilities to claim their rights
- Capacity building - developing skills, practice and attitude for positive change
1.4 Strengths of the organization:
- Good reputation and image in the community. /Positive impact in the community.
- Committed leadership. /Required number of human resources.
- Availability of appropriate materials.
- competencies ,skilled and experienced human resource in different area,
- Inclusiveness of marginalized and ethnic group in programs, staff and even in board members. ( dalit, women, janjati )
- The organization is governed by the rules and regulations.
- Harmonious relationship and co-ordination among the staff.
- The programs conducted even in remote areas.
- Partnership with government organization.
- The expected result produced from the programs.
